On being an artist and mom:
I joined the Nightingale Programming Board when I was seven months pregnant, and started working on elements of Extended Practice when my son was an infant. These activities were easily done while my son napped, and I could bring him to studio visits with other artist parents. Curating and organizing events have allowed me to think critically and write about art again in a way that fit with my life as a new parent.
I was dumbfounded by how exhausting it is to be a new mom. This is a level of tired I did not know existed on earth. I am finally sleeping through the night - sometimes - which helps me feel a bit more human.
